Christmas Day at Home

We never seem to get a really early start on Christmas morning and this year was no exception. :)
So, everyone was anxious to get started...  John made us a fire in the fireplace for ambience and tradition, although it was such a warm day that it almost felt funny to have a fire. :)  He's sweet to oblige us all though!  We sat by the fire and sipped hot drinks and pretended it was cold.

Just as we settled in to hear John read us the Christmas story, Josiah noticed how the light suddenly shone in on our nativity set!  Wow!

We almost forgot to light our advent candles...

Love seeing big brother helping!  Makes my heart melt!

Stockings first...

Then gifts...
Shep got the skateboard he really wanted!

Real tools!  Will was SOOOO excited!  And he was anxious to use them on a project!

Josiah got his first phone!!

This was probably Shepard's favorite gift...  he loves those little animals.  He has them driving his remote control jeep all over the house.

One of John's favorite gifts!  It even has "nerd" (ahem... "geek") pen pockets on the sleeve!

Dad showing him how to ride...

It was another blessed day!  Full of love and fun.
My heart overflows with gratefulness...  I don't even know how to adequately express it...  but to my LORD, my heart whispers "thank you".

The Pre-Christmas Eve Slumber Party

A new tradition, perhaps??
A sleepover at Mammie and Papaw's the night before Christmas Eve!

It started with a little snacking (so much yummy food!) and a game of Mad Gab with LOTS of laughing!

John and I were the only ones who went home to our own bed that night... so we came back the next morning and cooked a farmhouse style breakfast for everyone with fried and scrambled eggs from our chickens, hashbrowns, bacon, biscuits and fruit.  It was fun!

Cousins catching an afternoon movie together...  doesn't that look cozy?

The Christmas Eve dinner table...  it was so pretty I just had to get a picture!

The kids are already relaxing/ playing after dinner...

while the adults linger a bit at the beautiful table...
