Shepard's restaurant on the dirt pile

Love his creativity!
The boys have dug a big hole in the top of our dirt pile (so that it sorta looks like a volcano exploded).  Shepard put a stool from the barn down inside the hole and then set up a restaurant counter.  You could order anything and he would scoop up a big pile of dirt on your plate.

Speaking of creativity...  last weekend, Shepard and Will thought it would be fun to have overalls.  So, they cut some leg holes in the bottom of Wal-Mart sacks and put the handles over their shoulders.  John took these pictures with his phone.

I thought they were so cute!

Burning trash and fallen limbs

One of the things we love about living in the country is being able to have bonfires!  And, you know, we have boys...  is there anything more fun than catching a stick on fire! :)
The boys were finally able to do "stick patrol" yesterday.  This is definitely not their favorite job...  there are a LOT of fallen limbs and sticks to pick up around here before mowing season can start.  But, they got it done pretty fast and then we got to burn it all.  (Except the apple wood!  John is saving the limbs he trimmed off the apple trees to shred into chips that he can use with the smoker he got for his birthday.  Mmmmm...  I can hardly wait to have some applewood smoked chicken.)

These are some other pictures I took of the boys while we were all outside enjoying the spring evening and our bonfire.

At sunset we had a tailgate party on the back of John's new truck while we watched the flames.
So fun!

Animals at the Farm

A couple weeks ago I took a few pictures of some of the animals on our farm...
I love having them here!  (More than I ever thought I would.)

John's New Truck

He's an official member of the white vehicle club, now! :)
John bought a farm truck...  and it's big enough for all of us to ride in it!  We love it!

Happy 43rd Birthday, John!!

John turned 43 this week!
 Just gotta be goofy...

I'm so sorry we can't sing...  it was almost painful listening to our birthday serenade.
I can't believe I almost forgot one of our favorite traditions... Gift Parade!
(We bring the unwrapped gifts in a parade - which I really love because I don't love wrapping gifts.)  But, I forgot and wrapped all the gifts.  Well, we still did our gift parade!  Here are the boys getting ready to come in.

Love how silly Josiah can be!!

Shepard really wanted to try taking some pictures, so these last two are from him.  I love having a picture of me and my man!

Happy Birthday, John!
We are grateful beyond words for you!!!!

Just playing with my camera

Trying to learn things with my camera...
just can't quite get what I'm trying to, but I sure do love having pictures of these boys!!

Does anyone else notice that Will just "won't" look at the camera! :)

Easter 2013

Here are the highlights from our Easter celebration this year...
(My biggest regret is that we didn't do a Passover meal again. The kids missed it too. Maybe next year???)
Coloring eggs on the Saturday before Easter... a tradition! We've been doing this since Josiah was about two or three years old. (Always with the sticker faces!)
We colored our brown farm eggs again...  they turn a really neat "earthy" color!

On Saturday afternoon the kids got to do an egg hunt with their cousins at Mammie and Papaw's house while the adults had a GKS meeting... the big kids hid the eggs and the younger ones got to hunt.  They had so much fun!

Easter morning...

After church, we took a couple more pictures!  The boys looked so handsome!

Sunday evening we had a wonderful meal at my mom and dad's.  We were really glad that my Grandpa came and we got to visit with him!

Mostly, we are grateful for what we really celebrate at Easter... a RISEN SAVIOUR!!
